In an effort to make life more affordable for everyday families the Home Renovation Savings Program is launching on January 28, 2025. The programs' aim is to empower families to decrease their energy use, which will effectively reduce their bills every month.

Families will be incentivized up to 30% on things like a new heat pump, to new insulation, to smart thermostats and even new windows and solar panels. The program has a 60 day guarantee on money flowing back to Canadians who are now 100% eligible for this program. *Previously this program only applied to approx. 30% of Canadians.

There is a 12 year timeline on the program, expanded from the previous 4, so this program has vastly expanded its reach and really focuses on existing homes in need of renovations to become more energy efficient.

What about new builds?

New homes are built to a different standard than our parents homes built 30 years ago, however, the new home owner can still benefit on any future upgrades, since the program will run until 2037.

So how does this program work, and what kind of savings can Canadians expect?

Canadians can head to www.saveonenergy.ca and check eligibility, there will be clear outline on what is permissible and what is not, in the simplified one stop shop. It requires a sign up, and you can submit eligible receipts and expect money back in 60 days.

Here's what the website currently outlines:
